Softball Recap: Weatherford Christian Wins Going Away Against Fellowship Academy

Weatherford Christian won the last time they faced Fellowship Academy and things went their way on Thursday too. The Lions blew past the Mustangs 10-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Lions.

Sydney Carter made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off nine hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in February of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing five bases while going 2-for-4. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played dating back to last season.

In other batting news, Lyndsey Smith and Cheridan Rowell did most of the damage at the plate: Smith scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2, while Rowell went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Those three hits gave Rowell a new career-high. Allison Miller was another key player, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3.

Weatherford Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fellowship Academy only posted a batting average of .222.

Weatherford Christian's victory bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Fellowship Academy, they dropped their record down to 4-4 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Weatherford Christian will host Nazarene Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Fellowship Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Faustina Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
