Baseball Game Preview: Cripple Creek-Victor Pioneers vs. Platte Canyon Huskies

The Cripple Creek-Victor Pioneers are taking a road trip to face off against the Platte Canyon Huskies at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Platte Canyon took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Cripple Creek-Victor, who comes in off a win.

Cripple Creek-Victor took a seven-run loss the last time they faced off against South Park, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Pioneers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 11-9 victory over the Burros on Thursday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Pioneers needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Meanwhile, Platte Canyon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They lost 22-2 to Bennett. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Huskies couldn't push the score so high this time.

Platte Canyon saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Haase, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was Haase's first of the season.

Cripple Creek-Victor's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Platte Canyon, their loss dropped their record down to 0-7.

Cripple Creek-Victor suffered a grim 18-0 defeat to Platte Canyon in their previous meeting back in May of 2021. Can the Pioneers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
