Football Game Preview: Montgomery Bears vs. West Fork Gators

The Montgomery Bears will head out to square off against the West Fork Gators at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Montgomery's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.

Montgomery is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Splendora: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Bears blew the Wildcats out of the water with a 56-19 final score. With the Bears ahead 42-7 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

One reason for the win was Montgomery's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for six sacks. Keagan Gilbert was especially locked on to Splendora's QB and sacked him twice.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 34 points the game before, West Fork was a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They had to suffer through a 39-7 loss at the hands of Port Neches-Groves. While losing is never fun, the Gators can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 443rd, while the Indians are ranked 34th).

West Fork's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Montgomery, they pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Everything came up roses for Montgomery against West Fork in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 59-6 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bears since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
