Softball Recap: York Falcons vs. Warhill Lions

York took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Warhill, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Falcons narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Lions 7-5. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Sarah Witt made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Bri Petrolia was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Ella Thurman was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

York hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in six consecutive games.
