Basketball Game Preview: Edison Golden Bears vs. Jefferson Mustangs

Edison has won four straight games at home, while Jefferson has won four straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Saturday. The Edison Golden Bears will host the Jefferson Mustangs at 11:30 a.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Edison will bounce into Saturday's contest after beating Lanier, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. The stars were shining brightly for Edison in a 50-34 victory over Lanier on Friday. That's two games straight that the Golden Bears have won by exactly 16 points.

Meanwhile, in a tight game that could have gone either way, Jefferson made off with a 59-58 win over Seguin. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 408th, while the Matadors are ranked 878th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jefferson has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.3 points per game. As for Edison, their victory bumped their record up to 9-12.

Edison came up short against Jefferson in their previous meeting back in February, falling 47-43. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Jefferson's Trey Perez, who went 9 for 13 on his way to 29 points.
