            Baseball Recap: Lordstown Red Devils vs. Maplewood Rockets        
        
		
        
        
            Lordstown had lost 14 straight on the road dating back to last season, but  on Thursday they dropped their record down to 0-8 to make it 15. They came up short against  the Maplewood Rockets, falling  14-1. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Red Devils of the  18-4 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture  back in April of 2024.
As for Maplewood, they are  on a roll lately: they've  won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record  this season. The result was nothing new for Maplewood, who have now won six contests by six  runs or more  so far this season.
For Maplewood's part, they got a great performance from  Kale Calvert as he  didn't allow a single  earned run and  allowed only two  hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched.
 On the hitting side,  Gabe Erwin was a standout: he went 1-for-4 with two  stolen bases, three  runs,  and one  RBI.  Kenyan Clover also deserves some recognition as  he  hit his first  double of the season.
 Coincidentally, Lordstown and Maplewood will both be playing Chalker the next time they take the field. The Rockets will head out to face the Wildcats at 5:00  p.m.  on Friday, while the Red Devils will  host them  at 5:00  p.m.  on Tuesday.
