Football Recap: Evangelical Christian Triumphs

After only seven points in their last game, Evangelical Christian made sure to put some points up on the board against Glades Day on Friday. The Sentinels came out on top against the Gators by a score of 31-18. For the Sentinels, this counts as revenge for the 21-0 win the Gators walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2021.

Mack Mitchell threw for 116 yards and one TD while completing 83.3% of his passes. Drew Irwin was his top target, picking up 47 receiving yards.

The victory got Evangelical Christian back to even at 3-3. As for Glades Day, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Evangelical Christian will host Westminster Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lions' defense has only allowed 10.2 points per game this season, so the Sentinels' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Glades Day, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Southwest Florida Christian at 7:00 p.m. on October 10.
