Softball Recap: Eastern Christian Has No Trouble Against Manchester Regional

It was a Battle of the Birds when Eastern Christian took on Manchester Regional on Thursday. The Eagles blew past the Falcons 18-3. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won seven games by ten runs or more so far this season.

Alina Ellis made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Ellis was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Avery Conrad looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave her a new career-high.

Back at the plate, Nali DeLorenzo was a standout: she went a perfect 5-for-5 with three runs and two RBI. Those five hits gave her a new career-high. Hannah Leegwater also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Eastern Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .705. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Eastern Christian's record is now 8-9. As for Manchester Regional, their loss was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-15.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Eastern Christian will host Hasbrouck Heights at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Aviators have averaged an impressive 9.9 runs per game this season. As for Manchester Regional, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Glen Rock at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
