After a string of four wins, Great Bridge's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Hickory Hawks by a score of 2-1. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Great Bridge came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked fourth, while Hickory are ranked 30th).

Great Bridge's goal came courtesy of Megan Ireland, who's now up to two this season.

Great Bridge's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-2. As for Hickory, they pushed their record up to 7-2-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.
