Baseball Game Preview: Big Sandy Wildcats vs. Como-Pickton Eagles

For the second straight game, Big Sandy will face off against Como-Pickton. The Wildcats are taking a road trip to square off against the Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Big Sandy is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Como-Pickton just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 4-3.

For Como-Pickton's part, Sean Carpenter spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 12 Ks. Carpenter has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Como-Pickton saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ben Brewer, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Como-Pickton is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Big Sandy, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-6.
