Basketball Recap: Taft Snaps Ten-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Taft came into Friday's match having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 66-57 victory over the Serra Cavaliers on Friday. The Toreadors have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Cavaliers, too.

Despite the loss, Serra still got an impressive performance from Chinemerem Anyikwa, who posted 27 points and seven rebounds. That's the most rebounds Anyikwa has posted since back in November of 2023. Jason Williams was another key player, putting up eight points and five assists.

Taft's win ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 6-6. As for Serra, the loss was their first at home , dropping their record down to 5-3.

Taft and Verbum Dei Jesuit will round out the year against one another at at 4:00 p.m. on December 28th. As for Serra, they will face off against Sylmar at 11:30 a.m. on Friday.
