Defiance has gone 8-1 against Napoleon recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Bulldogs will be playing at home against the Wildcats at 12:00 p.m. Defiance is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
Defiance had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Memorial on Thursday. The Bulldogs never let the Roughriders get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. Considering the Bulldogs have won three contests by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Not much got past Brezlen Zipfel, who gave up just a hit and racked up 12 Ks to keep Memorial off the board.
On the hitting side, Defiance got a big performance out of Logan Hutcheson, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three RBI gave Hutcheson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cody Shaw, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Wildcats on Thursday. Napoleon fell just short of Northview by a score of 3-2.
Napoleon saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Parker Woods, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.
Defiance's win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Napoleon, their loss dropped their record down to 5-2-1.
Both Defiance and Napoleon just can't seem to miss. The Bulldogs have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.8 hits per game. However, it's not like Napoleon struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.8 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
