The Brown Deer Falcons will venture away from home to challenge the Dominican Knights at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. Brown Deer has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with six straight defeats, while Dominican will come in with nine straight wins.
Brown Deer is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They fell 21-17 to Racine Horlick on Wednesday. Even if the Falcons couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.
Meanwhile, Dominican got the win against St. Catherine's on Thursday by a conclusive 13-2. Considering the Knights have won six contests by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Lily Weiler made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run and one double.
In other batting news, Cate Wahlen was incredible, firing off two home runs, seven RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. Those home runs marked the first that she has launched this season. Sara Ketterhagen was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Dominican was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .467. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .320 or higher in three consecutive games.
Dominican pushed their record up to 9-0 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. The team's perfect season has a lot to do with their hitting performance: the team's won by an average of 8.6 runs thus far. As for Brown Deer, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.
Brown Deer beat Dominican 4-0 in their previous meeting back in May of 2022. Do the Falcons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Knights turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
