Basketball Game Preview: Roma Gladiators vs. Nixon Mustangs

Roma hasn't had much luck against Nixon recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Roma Gladiators will venture away from home to face off against the Nixon Mustangs at 6:00 p.m.

Roma is headed into Friday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Tuesday. They were one points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 54-53 heartbreaker at the hands of Mission Veterans Memorial.

Meanwhile, Nixon came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 53.4 points) and they left with even more momentum. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Eagles 86-51. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 15 contests by 20 points or more this season.

Nixon's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-9. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 85.7 points per game. As for Roma, their loss dropped their record down to 4-14.

Roma took a serious blow against Nixon when the teams last played back in November of 2024, falling 88-42. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Nixon's Mason Vela, who went 8 for 14 on his way to 19 points and six rebounds.
