Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Jay County). They put the hurt on the Muncie Central Bearcats with a sharp 23-4 win on Monday. The Patriots have beaten the Bearcats the last eight times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Bearcats has come to flipping the script.
Kade Sommers looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He is becoming a predictor of Jay County's success: when he allows at most two hits the team is 2-1 (and 5-9 when he doesn't).
On the hitting side, Andrew Schemenaur was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and five RBI. He continues to improve, besting his previous run total in each of the last three games he's played. Wyatt Foster also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
