Basketball Recap: Nick Womack's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Wharton over Wiregrass Ranch

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Wharton can now relate to. They fell 72-61 to the Wiregrass Ranch Bulls on Friday. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulls apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2022.

Wharton's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nick Womack, who posted 13 points along with six assists and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Tysen Jefferson, who had 14 points.

Wharton's loss dropped their record down to 21-6. As for Wiregrass Ranch, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Wildcats face off against the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Wharton is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.1 points per game this season. As for Wiregrass Ranch, they will challenge Palmetto Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Palmetto Ridge will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Wiregrass Ranch surely won't give up without a fight.
