Baseball Game Preview: Dublin Scioto Irish vs. Licking Heights Hornets

The Dublin Scioto Irish will head out to face off against the Licking Heights Hornets at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Dublin Scioto fell victim to Big Walnut and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They lost 10-0 to the Golden Eagles. Surprisingly, this marked the Irish's fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Licking Heights came out on top against Northridge on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run third inning. The Hornets walked away with a 10-7 victory over the Vikings. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Hornets.

Brady Pennington was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He is becoming a predictor of Licking Heights' success: when he allows at most two hits the team is 2-1 (and 1-12 when he doesn't). Pennington was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Pennington wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Maxim Fink, who went 1-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Remy Alcorn also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Licking Heights' record is now 3-13. As for Dublin Scioto, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-8.
