Softball Recap: Tulare Western's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Tulare Western proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by nine) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Pioneer Valley Panthers 2-1. The two-run effort marked the Mustangs' lowest-scoring match of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Ky Taylor spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

On the hitting side, Tulare Western saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Makayla Leon, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

The victory was the sixth in a row for Tulare Western, bringing their record up to 8-2-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Pioneer Valley, the loss snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 9-5 record.

Looking ahead, Tulare Western will take on Mission Oak at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Pioneer Valley, they will be playing at home against Atascadero at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
