Basketball Game Preview: Dayspring Christian Academy Eagles vs. Denver Christian Thunder

The Dayspring Christian Academy Eagles will venture away from home to challenge the Denver Christian Thunder at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Dayspring Christian Academy comes in on four and Denver Christian on six.

Dayspring Christian Academy is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Union Colony Prep: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Dayspring Christian Academy blew Union Colony Prep out of the water with a 58-20 final score. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 29 points or more this season.

Dayspring Christian Academy found their leader in sophomore Hadley Bonnell, who dropped a double-double on ten rebounds and 13 steals. With that strong performance, Bonnell is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Brynnli Bryson, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine steals.

Dayspring Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 26 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 11 consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Denver Christian earned a 47-39 victory over Kent Denver on Thursday. Given the Thunder's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while the Sun Devils are ranked 128th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Dayspring Christian Academy's win bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Denver Christian, they pushed their record up to 13-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Dayspring Christian Academy came up short against Denver Christian in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 55-48. Can Dayspring Christian Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
