Basketball Recap: Hughson Starts Season with Win on the Road + How To Watch

Hughson had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They blew past the Modesto Panthers, posting a 64-36 victory. This was payback for the Huskies, who suffered an 87-57 loss the last time these two teams met.

Leading Hughson to victory were Karam Kang and James Seay. Kang shot 54% from beyond the arc to rack up 25 points and five assists, while Seay went 7-for-14 en route to 16 points in addition to seven steals and six rebounds. That's the most points Seay has posted since back in December of 2024. Xavier Urquidez was another key player, putting up nine points and five boards.

Modesto is on a 26-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hughson won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Ceres at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Modesto, they will challenge Dublin at 7:30 p.m. on December 2.
