Preview: Miami Wardogs vs. Wagoner Bulldogs

Miami has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on The Wagoner Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Last Friday, Miami got themselves on the board against Cleveland, but Cleveland never followed suit. They claimed a resounding 49-0 victory over the Tigers at home. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as Miami just coasted through the last quarter.

Miami can attribute much of their success to Sam Lillard, who rushed for 104 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries, and Hunter Nichols, who rushed for 154 yards and three touchdowns on only nine carries. Nichols hasn't dropped below two rushing touchdowns for four straight games.

Meanwhile, Wagoner put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their undefeated season alive. They blew past Catoosa, posting a 54-23 victory on the road. Given Wagoner's advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma football rankings (they are ranked 16th, while Catoosa is ranked 146th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Miami's victory was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 6-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 48.7 points per game. As for Wagoner, their victory bumped their record up to 9-0-1.

Miami was taken down by Wagoner 42-7 in their previous meeting back in November of 2022. Can Miami avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
