Baseball Recap: Dieterich Takes a Loss

Dieterich was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Vandalia Vandals. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Movin Maroons have suffered since April 1st.

Justin Boerngen was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Dom Ashley, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Dieterich's record is now 6-13. As for Vandalia, their victory ended an eight-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-14.

Looking ahead, Dieterich will be playing in front of their home fans against Cumberland at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Vandalia, they will head out to challenge Carlyle at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Vandals are facing the Indians/Lady Indians at the right time seeing as the Indians/Lady Indians are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
