Volleyball Recap: Amundsen Vikings vs. Kenwood Broncos
Amundsen was the 2-1 winner over Kenwood when they last played one another back in October of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Vikings fell just short of the Broncos by a score of 2-1 on Tuesday.
In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Amundsen sadly wound up on the wrong side. The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 26-28, 25-22.
Charley Sellers paced Amundsen's offense, picking up seven kills. Sellers got some help from Sydney McHatten and her nine assists. Freja Brask controlled things from the service line, finishing with five aces.
Among those leading the charge was Kayla Lawrence, who had six digs and five aces. That's the most aces she has posted over her last seven matches. Casey Wigging also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.
Amundsen has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 12 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-15 record this season. As for Kenwood, their win bumped their record up to 6-7.
