Softball Recap: Governor Livingston Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

Governor Livingston won the last time they faced Elizabeth and things went their way on Friday too. The Highlanders put the hurt on the Minutemen with a sharp 18-5 win. The result was nothing new for the Highlanders, who have now won five games by seven runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Chelsea Kiesewetter, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Ally Gardner also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Governor Livingston was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .577. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in four consecutive matches.

Governor Livingston's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.2 runs over those games. As for Elizabeth, their loss dropped their record down to 1-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Governor Livingston will host Summit at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Hilltoppers will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something the Highlanders surely won't give up without a fight. As for Elizabeth, they will be playing at home against Dayton at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
