Football Recap: Mountain Brook Starts Season with Victory at Home + How To Watch

Mountain Brook gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They blew past the Demopolis Tigers 44-7. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Spartans' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama football rankings (they are ranked 12th, while the Tigers are ranked 76th).

Mountain Brook got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Stuart Andrews out in front who rushed for 131 yards and a pair of scores on only 13 carries. Andrews' rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his sixth straight game with at least 106 rushing yards dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Smith, who picked up 97 receiving yards and three touchdowns.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Mountain Brook was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 224 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 162 rushing yards in six consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Mountain Brook has already played their next contest, a 27-11 defeat against Parker on the 29th. As for Demopolis, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 41-0 loss against Jackson on the 29th.
