Baseball Game Preview: Hawthorne Cougars vs. Leuzinger Olympians

The Hawthorne Cougars will challenge the Leuzinger Olympians at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Hawthorne has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Leuzinger will arrive with five straight victories.

Hawthorne fell victim to Culver City and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They came up short against the Centaurs, falling 11-0.

Meanwhile, Leuzinger sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over Beverly Hills on Monday.

Leuzinger pushed their record up to 12-4 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Hawthorne, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-13.

Hawthorne suffered a grim 6-0 defeat to Leuzinger in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
