Softball Recap: Elk Grove Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Elk Grove can now relate to. They lost 10-1 to the Vacaville Bulldogs on Friday. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Thundering Herd, who until this contest were averaging 3.59 runs allowed.

Annabel Focht was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

Elk Grove's defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-12. As for Vacaville, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 18-8.

Elk Grove does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Vacaville, they will challenge Rocklin at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Thunder have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season.
