Basketball Recap: Matthew Lebron Key Part of a Team Effort in Stallions Win

Banning Lewis Academy's game on Wednesday was all tied up 28-28 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They walked away with a 70-61 win over the St. Mary's Pirates. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Stallions also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.

Banning Lewis Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Matthew Lebron, who went 8 of 16 en route to 27 points. Lebron's evening made it nine games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Trey Oden, who went 5 for 9 on his way to 14 points in addition to six assists and six boards.

When it comes to explaining why St. Mary's lost, don't look at Kisean Dawson. Despite the final result, he went 7 of 14 en route to 15 points and eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Cruz Artaechevarria, who went 5 for 11 on his way to 10 points and five assists.

The victory made it two in a row for Banning Lewis Academy and bumps their season record up to 6-3. As for St. Mary's, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-4.

Banning Lewis Academy has already played their next match, an 81-38 win against Rye on the 24th. As for St. Mary's, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 47-45 victory against Buena Vista on the 24th.
