Basketball Recap: Neches Extends Winning Streak to Four

Slocum typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Neches proved too difficult a challenge. Everything went their way against the Slocum Mustangs as they made off with a 38-17 victory. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 307th, while the Mustangs are ranked 882nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

The win (which was Neches' fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-6. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.5 points per game. As for Slocum, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-12.

Neches will welcome Coolidge at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Neches is facing Coolidge at the right time seeing as Coolidge is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Slocum, they will head out to challenge Oakwood at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
