Basketball Recap: Chapel Hill's Loss Ends 15-Game Winning Streak at Home

After flying high against Athens Drive last Saturday, Chapel Hill came back down to earth. The Chapel Hill Tigers took a hard 42-27 fall against the Seaforth Hawks on Tuesday. If the Tigers were looking for revenge after losing 46-41 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Ashton Beale and Eva Smith certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Beale posted nine points and six rebounds, while Smith earned six points and eight rebounds. Smith is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played dating back to last season.

Gabrielle White continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Seaforth, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 18 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which White has scored at least a third of Seaforth's points. Another player making a difference was Katherine Leonard, who put up ten points and eight rebounds.

Chapel Hill's loss ended a 15-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-1. As for Seaforth, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-1.

Chapel Hill didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 56-37 win against Eastern Alamance on the 6th. As for Seaforth, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 53-10 victory against Graham on the 10th.
