Baseball Game Preview: Evansville Reitz Panthers vs. Southridge Raiders

The Evansville Reitz Panthers are taking a road trip to challenge the Southridge Raiders at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Evansville Reitz fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Evansville North on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Huskies by a score of 5-4.

Cayden McGrew was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out nine batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has become a key player for Evansville Reitz: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-4 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Bradyn Angel made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one run and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon McCutchan, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs.

Meanwhile, Southridge came up short against North Posey on Thursday and fell 4-1. The Raiders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Evansville Reitz's record is now 5-5. As for Southridge, their record now sits at 3-6.

Evansville Reitz couldn't quite get it done against Southridge in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 3-0. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
