Baseball Recap: Fenwick Has No Trouble Against De La Salle

Fenwick never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the De La Salle Meteors. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 14-11 on Monday.

Diego Tafolla tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Josh Morgan, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Fenwick's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-9-1 when he doesn't). Ethan Gonzalez also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Fenwick was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .450. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The victory got Fenwick back to even at 9-9-1. As for De La Salle, they are on a 13-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-14.

Looking ahead, Fenwick will venture away from home to take on Marmion at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Cadets will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Friars surely won't give up without a fight. As for De La Salle, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Montini Catholic at 4:30 p.m. The Broncos' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Meteors' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
