Baseball Game Preview: Bellevue Christian Vikings vs. Klahowya Eagles

The Bellevue Christian Vikings will face off against the Klahowya Eagles at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Bellevue Christian 1.9, Klahowya 1.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Bellevue Christian fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Charles Wright on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Tarriers by a score of 7-6. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last seven times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Mason Hill and Luke Evenson were huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. Throwing, Hill didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Evenson didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances. At bat, Hill went 1-for-4 with two runs and one RBI, while Evenson went 4-for-5 with three stolen bases and three runs.

In other batting news, Jack Vlahovich was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-5 with two doubles and two RBI. Those doubles marked the first that he has hit this season.

Meanwhile, Klahowya had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Pirates a 14-0 shutout. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by six runs or more this season.

Klahowya pushed their record up to 14-1 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Bellevue Christian, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 12-3.
