Softball Recap: Meade County Find Success

Meade County came out on top against Taylor County on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run fifth inning. The Green Waves narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Cardinals 7-5. For the Green Waves, this counts as revenge for the 9-8 win the Cardinals walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2025.

Kaelyn Ledford made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted over her last six matchups.

In other pitching news, Veronica Roberts looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 15 consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Annsley Adkisson, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Amelia Padgett was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one RBI.

Meade County is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-12 record this season. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.33 runs across that stretch. As for Taylor County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 19-10.

Meade County and Taylor County should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Kentucky Rankings. The Green Waves will challenge Elizabethtown at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (19 vs. 101). Meanwhile, Taylor County (ranked 42nd) will meet Green County (ranked 140th) at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
