Softball Game Preview: Allentown Central Catholic Vikings vs. Parkland Trojans

Allentown Central Catholic is 0-10 against Parkland since March of 2019 but things could change on Thursday. The Vikings will challenge the Trojans at 4:00 p.m. Allentown Central Catholic has given up an average of 11 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Allentown Central Catholic lost 18-5 to Freedom on Tuesday. The Vikings have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Gianna Menecola was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season.

Meanwhile, Parkland came up short against Northampton on Tuesday and fell 8-5.

Anna Belletieri made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Ami Patel was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Allentown Central Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Parkland, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Parkland's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Allentown Central Catholic has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Parkland, though, as they've been averaging only 4 strikeouts. Will Allentown Central Catholic keep running through batters, or will the Trojans buck the trend?

Allentown Central Catholic suffered a grim 18-3 defeat to Parkland when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Vikings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
