Baseball Recap: The Master's Academy Sets Scoring Season-High Against Lake Lure Classical Academy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask The Master's Academy). They put the hurt on the Lake Lure Classical Academy Raptors with a sharp 20-4 win on Monday. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matches by six runs or more this season.

Sawyer Waugh made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Waugh was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 5-for-5 with four runs, three RBI, and one double. Those five hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Luke Pate, who fired off two home runs, eight RBI, and three runs while going 2-for-4. Those eight RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Bear LaSelle, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

The Master's Academy lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

The Master's Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Lake Lure Classical Academy, they are on a 20-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

The Master's Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lake Lure Classical Academy, they will be playing at home against Pinnacle Classical Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Raptors' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
