Basketball Recap: Cross Trojans vs. Branchville Yellow Jackets
Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cross). They breezed past the Branchville Yellow Jackets to the tune of 60-16 on Friday. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Trojans considering their 20-point performance the match before.
Cross' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lauren Middleton, who posted 19 points along with seven assists and seven steals. Middleton is becoming a predictor of Cross' success: when she posts at least five steals the team is undefeated (and 1-12 when she doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Harris, who had 16 points and five steals.

Middleton wasn't the only one working in the assist department: Cross was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.
Despite the loss, Branchville saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Cadence McAlhany scored six points and four steals. McAlhany is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last eight games she's played.
The win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 4-12. As for Branchville, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-14.
Coming up, Cross is taking a road trip to face off against Latta at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Latta's defense has only allowed 27.7 points per game this season, so Cross' offense will have their work cut out for them. Branchville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
