Durant came tearing into Monday's game with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.1 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 victory over the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks. That's more bragging rights for the Wildcats, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Colby Gast spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Owen Collier, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in May. Kaden Sickels also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Durant's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-4. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Mid-Prairie, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-9.

Looking ahead, Durant will venture away from home to square off against Wilton at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Mid-Prairie, they will host Fairfield at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
