League recap: Nebraska Christian tops Cross County to extend winning streak

D1 District 4 (8 Man) recap October 22, 2013

Adding to the longest winning streak in D1 District 4 (8 Man) this week, Nebraska Christian beat Cross County 88-6. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.

Nebraska Christian took down the Cougars 88-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. Keagan Jewell threw for 39 yards and 2 touchdowns and ran for 168 yards in the win.

Jewell put up the best numbers in passing as Carl Ostrand's team bested Cross County.

High Plains's Logan Engel and Cole Klingsporn have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Engel has thrown for 1,005 yards this season, while Klingsporn has 22 catches for 423 yards. Carson Huenefeld from the Eagles leads the league in rushing with 734 yards.

The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place High Plains takes on second place Nebraska Christian.

Fans will be treated to a premier battle in the secondary when the Storm's Klingsporn goes up against Nebraska Christian's Matthew Swanson.

Next week's game between High Plains and the Eagles will feature a good passing match up as Engel will test his arm against Swanson's defensive ability.

There should be lots of points scored when Nebraska Christian and Greg Wood's team face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Eagles comes in having scored 242 this season, while the Storm have scored 382. Nebraska Christian scored 88 points last week as it defeated Ty Twarling's team.

Nebraska Christian led D1 District 4 (8 Man) in scoring this week after putting up 88 points on Cross County. Jewell ran for 168 yards during the win.
