Basketball Recap: McLean Highlanders vs. Yorktown Patriots
There's no place like home for the McLean Highlanders, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Tuesday. They snuck past Yorktown with a 56-50 win on Friday. That's another feather in the cap for McLean, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
When it comes to explaining why Yorktown lost, one person who can't be blamed is Andrew Maria. Despite the final result, he scored 16 points. Maria is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last three games he's played. Austin Barbieri was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
McLean has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. As for Yorktown, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-10.
McLean does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Yorktown will head out on the road to face off against the Generals at 5:45 p.m. on Monday.
