Softball Game Preview: Millbrook Wildcats vs. Sanderson Spartans

The Millbrook Wildcats will take on the Sanderson Spartans at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Millbrook is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.

Millbrook took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Wake Prep Academy, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Millbrook narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Wake Prep Academy 9-7. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.

Millbrook let Arianna Brisita and Brynn Herman run wild. Brisita went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Herman went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those three hits gave Herman a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kayleigh Prather, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4.

Sanderson kicked off their season on the road on Monday and hit a couple of potholes. They lost 17-1 to Green Hope. The defeat continues a trend for the Spartans in their meetings with the Falcons: they've now lost four in a row.

Sloane Thorpe was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-2.

Millbrook now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Sanderson, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.

Millbrook took their victory against Sanderson in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 13-7. Will Millbrook repeat their success, or does Sanderson have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
