Soccer Game Preview: Richards vs. Oak Lawn

The Richards Bulldogs will challenge the Oak Lawn Spartans at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Considering both teams were shutout in their prior games, the pair is probably coming into this one with something to prove.

Richards is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to nine goals last Friday, they were much more limited against Reavis on Tuesday. They lost 4-0 to the Rams. Richards haven't had much luck with Reavis recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Oak Lawn's offense. They came up short against Oak Forest on Wednesday, falling 4-0. While losing is never fun, Oak Lawn can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 293rd, while Oak Forest are ranked 100th).

Oak Lawn's defeat dropped their record down to 6-8-4. As for Richards, they now have a losing record of 8-9.

Richards got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in April against Oak Lawn by a conclusive 4-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
