Volleyball Recap: Reed Falls Short Against Ranked Fernley

Reed faced Fernley in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Raiders took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Vaqueros. The Raiders were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Vaqueros earlier this season, when they won 2-0.

Fernley was led to victory by Alauna Escartin and Jocelyn Escartin. Alauna had six digs and two aces, while Jocelyn had 11 digs and one assist. That's the most digs Jocelyn has posted over her last eight games. Maddison Hill also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

The defeat snapped Reed's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-4 record. As for Fernley, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season.

Reed wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Eureka on the 23rd. As for Fernley, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-0 victory against Portola on the 23rd.
