Softball Recap: Northeastern Knights vs. Union County Patriots

Northeastern extended their postseason success on Thursday against Union County. They beat the Union County Patriots by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 5-4. Winning may never get old, but Northeastern sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.

Clare Lopeman made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off two hits. Lopeman was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Karri Gammon, who went 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Lillian Null, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

On Union County's side, Whitney King and Annalea Adams did some serious damage despite the final result: King went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a double, while Adams scored a run while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Northeastern's win bumped their record up to 15-7. As for Union County, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-13.

Northeastern is on the road again on Friday to play Eastern Hancock at 5:30 p.m. Eastern Hancock is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season. Union County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
