Softball Recap: Hesperia Wins Going Away Against Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Barstow, Hesperia was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy with a sharp 15-5 win. The match marked the Scorpions' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Angie Villalobos was a standout: she scored three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Annamarie Flores, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3.

Hesperia hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in six consecutive contests.

Hesperia's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-6-1. As for Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Coming up, Hesperia will venture away from home to face off against Academy for Academic Excellence at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Academy for Academic Excellence is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season. Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Riverside Prep at 3:15 p.m. on April 1st. This will be Riverside Prep's first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
