Baseball Game Preview: Holbrook Roadrunners vs. Joseph City Wildcats

The Holbrook Roadrunners will take on the Joseph City Wildcats at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses apiece.

Holbrook managed to slip by Alchesay the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Roadrunners came up short against the Falcons on Tuesday, falling 10-4.

Ben Eisele was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Niko Espitia, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Joseph City took on Kingman Academy on Saturday. The Wildcats lost 20-3 to the Tigers.

Justin Gardner made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Kayson Miller, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Holbrook's defeat dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Joseph City, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Holbrook has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Joseph City struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Everything went Holbrook's way against Joseph City in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as Holbrook made off with a 12-1 victory. Do the Roadrunners have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
