Baseball Recap: Albuquerque Academy Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Albuquerque Academy barely beat Bernalillo the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Albuquerque Academy Chargers were the clear victor by a 10-1 margin over the Bernalillo Spartans on Friday. Considering the Chargers have won four games by more than eight runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Matthew Delaney made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out 16 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Those 16 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Delaney wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Joseph Rounds, who went 1-for-4 with one triple. That triple was Rounds' first of the season.

The win was the fourth in a row for Albuquerque Academy, bringing their record for this year to 4-1. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 12.5 runs. As for Bernalillo, the loss was their first at home , dropping their record down to 2-5.

Albuquerque Academy didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 7-6 defeat against Bloomfield on the 8th. As for Bernalillo, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 9-7 victory against Taos on the 8th.
