Soccer Game Preview: South Stokes vs. Alleghany

The South Stokes Sauras will challenge the Alleghany Trojans at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Friday, South Stokes came up short against McMichael and fell 6-4.

The Sauras hit the Phoenix with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Diana Espino-Rodriguez (2), Payton Barbee, and Rebecca Castellano.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Alleghany). Their defense stepped up to hand Mount Airy a 5-0 shutout on Thursday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

South Stokes' defeat dropped their record down to 5-4-1. As for Alleghany, their victory bumped their record up to 3-7-1.

Everything went South Stokes' way against Alleghany in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as South Stokes made off with a 4-1 win. Will the Sauras repeat their success, or do the Trojans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
