Preview: South Central Trojans vs. Crestview Cougars

The South Central Trojans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Crestview Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: South Central has struggled recently with 12 defeats in a row, while Crestview will arrive with 18 straight victories.

On Saturday, South Central came up short against Mapleton and fell 51-38.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Gunner Ray, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Max Mccormack, who scored nine points along with two steals.

Mapleton typically has all the answers at home, but on Thursday Crestview proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with a 55-44 win over the Mounties. Given Crestview's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 153rd, while Mapleton is ranked 475th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

South Central's loss was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-17. As for Crestview, their victory bumped their record up to 18-0.

South Central was dealt a bruising 76-28 loss at the hands of Crestview when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Will South Central have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more basketball content.
