Hondo waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Randolph Ro-Hawks. Five seems to be a good number for the Owls as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Kolby Gear looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one hit in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Andrew Tapia was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one triple and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Kolten Alvarez was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Hondo was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in seven consecutive games.

Hondo pushed their record up to 21-5-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Randolph, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-12.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Ro-Hawks beat Hondo by a score of 5-1 later that day.
